A bit of a problem with winamp

I noticed if I go from the winamp window and then back to internet explorer jaws takes me right to the top of the page instead of where I left reading. I'm using winamp lite 5.5, IE 6, and jaws 8.0 if that helps.

Wow this is the second board topik I see on here, that has to do with some one asking about winam.

Wow, so many variables.

I don't have any specific suggestions except to check your options with insert+v. Go to the freedom help page and search their database of questions.

As a last resort you could join the freelist group winampfortheblind@freelist.org

i use IE 7 and it doesn't happen. maybe it's version 6 that does it?

Guess I have to live with it because I'm not about to upgrade to IE 7.

Post 6 by Toonhead71 (move over school!) on Wednesday, 19-Dec-2007 21:19:20

ah, why not upgrade to IE 7? It actually works a hell of a lot better with JAWS 8 and 9 than IE 6 does. Also, I moderate the list on Freelists for winamp, so if you'd like to join, senda message to:
winamp4theblind-request@freelists.org
and put the word subscribe in the subject line. For those using Outlook Express, your life will be made one hell of a lot easier if you turn on the option that shows the original message in your reply.
Freelists servers need to see a bit of code that's generated for each message and if it's not there, the server gets really pissy and sends you all these e-mails that are really incomprehensible and everyone just gets confused.
So those are just a few tips to help. I had the exact same problem when I alt tabbed around, but once I upgraded to IE 7 that problem went away.

if you don't want to upgrade, you can always set a temporary placemarker on the page. This way when you go back to it, just press k to jump right to where you were.

Upgrading to ie7 hasn't solved it for me at least. But then again maybe the fact I'm running the Beta and not the full version might have something to do with it.

Agreed about the IE7 thing, it does work a whole lot better then ie6. IE7 is a whole lot more secure then IE, and stuff like that. And its got some nice features.

I only reccommend using it with Jaws 9 though, it works slower with 8 and seems to freeze it more.

I used iE 7 for a while but had some trouble with it. It kept taking me to the tool bar or something and I had to tab a bunch of times just to get to the page.

Ok Now I'm getting this winamp update thing and I can't control tab to the main window or anything. Alt f4 doesn't exit the program either so I have to end it from the task manager. Any way to turn off updates before this thing pops up and I have to use the task manager?

Ok sorry to bug all you guys again but I've somehow fixed it.
